Today kicks off Book Expo America at the Javitts Center in New York City. BEA is the largest book convention in the country, though this year is smaller than others.
This year's vibe, I'm told, is going to be somewhere between "we're effed" and "where do we go from here?" Interesting discussions will hopefully happen and break ground for new business models in publishing.

I didn't get the impression that the publishing industry felt "effed" (love that by the way), but then again, I only attended the social networking sessions! I did enjoy Sara Nelson's keynote at the Writers Digest Conference, which was the realist thing I heard during my three days at the Javits. What are your thoughts?
I'm not the best representation of someone who took away a full picture of this year's BEA, because I could only attend on the Sunday, which was dead dead deeeeeead.
